Relationships are THE most important thing when it comes to marketing.
And the influence of people who have a strong, vast reach can go a long way to generating leads and making sales.
It’s called Influencer Marketing—and it’s nothing new, but completely revolutionary when it comes to online business.
Influencer Marketing is when a marketer leverages other people’s credibility to build an audience or sell a product. And people have been leveraging the credibility of others since the dawn of time.
The Wedgewood China Company understood the concept of Influencer Marketing very well. Way back in the 1700’s, they used endorsements from the royal family of England to boost sales. Even today, England’s royal family has a lot of influence over what people buy. As soon as Kate Middleton steps out in a new outfit, that item of clothing is sold out within hours.
Influencer Marketing doesn’t have to come from people who are famous or have celebrity status. Word of mouth is one of the oldest and most modest forms of Influencer Marketing. Just having customers tell others about their good experience is enough to bring in new customers.
And having widespread influence is a game-changer.
This is where the internet comes into the picture. The internet has changed the magnitude of Influencer Marketing and the ease with which it is done. There are people on the internet with massive followings. These are people who would very likely be unknown if it wasn’t for the internet.
And many of these people are considered to be experts in their niche. A lot of people value the opinions of these experts. These are what we call influencers.
Teaming up with influential people to launch an internet marketing campaign IS the modern day “word of mouth.”
Why has this always worked? Because people are more likely to buy from people they trust!
Seriously, people have “ad blindness.” They don’t like being sold to by companies. But when someone they trust tells them a product or brand is good, they listen.
And not only that—Influencer Marketing is a way to get around the problem of ad blocking, a problem that has been growing in recent years. Digitalnewsreport.org reports that 47% of internet users use ad blockers. That’s nearly half!
Yet Influencer Marketing makes it possible to reach that 47%.
If the “ad” is coming in the form of a recommendation or an endorsement from a trustworthy source, it doesn’t look like an ad. It looks like a person is simply telling a friend about a great product they love.
And that’s the key to the success of Influencer Marketing.
What Influencer Marketing Looks Like
Let’s look at an example of Influencer Marketing.
Say there is a pre-workout drink that needs to be promoted. This needs an influencer from the fitness niche. Someone who has a strong following—even if they aren’t a big celebrity.
In this case, we have the Instagram user @biancakmiec. She is clearly into fitness, and posted about how much she loves @fitaffinity pre-workout to give her energy for her workouts.
Her post got over 23,000 likes! And most of these people have never even met her in-person.
Now, that’s influence at its finest. Someone who has a lot of followers, looks the part, and has become known and trusted in the fitness niche.
The Stats Speak For Themselves
Influencer Marketing is truly all about relationships and trust. And these are the statistics to prove its effectiveness:
- 92% of people trust recommendations from individuals (even if they don’t know them) over brands. (Nielson)
- 93% of pros consider influencer marketing as an effective strategy to build brand awareness. (LaunchMetrics)
- 74% of consumers use social media to make purchase decisions. (Sprout Social)
- 81% of marketers who have used influencer marketing judged it to be effective. (emarketer.com)
- 47% of online customers use ad block technology. The way to reach them is to provide content they want from people they trust. (digitalnewsreport.org)
- 51% of marketers believe they get better customers from influencer marketing, simply because the relationship is based on trust in the influencer. (Tomoson)
- 37% better retention is reported when a customer acquired through word-of-mouth advertising. (Brandon Murphy)
There is no way anyone can argue with these stats. And anyone relying on internet marketing for their business can’t, either.
Why Instagram Is #1
When it comes to Influencer Marketing, the #1 social media platform is Instagram.
Part of the reason is that Instagram is powered by hashtags. In fact, you can use as many as 30 hashtags per post. However, research conducted by TrackMaven has shown that 11 hashtags per post gets the most engagement.
But hashtags alone don’t make Instagram #1. Here are three additional reasons why Instagram is the best for Influencer Marketing:
- Instagram is by far the fastest growing social media platform for brands. TrackMaven shows that Instagram has a 7%-8% growth rate each month.
- Instagram is the most engaged platform. Forbes reports the high engagement is due to a few factors, including Instagram’s mobility, it’s visual nature, the novelty of it, and its functionality.
- Instagram is SIMPLE to use!
And again, the statistics don’t lie. Here are some Instagram stats that prove its effectiveness:
- Instagram’s influencer marketing will generate $1 BILLION by the end of 2017.
- Instagram’s influencer market is expected to DOUBLE by 2019 (around $2.4 BILLION)
- 60% of influencers say Instagram is the best platform for engagement followed by Facebook, which is 18%. (Forbes)
- Instagram has 700 Million (Omnicore)
- The platform has 400 Million daily users. (Omnicore)
- 95 million photos uploaded per day. (Omnicore)
- There are2 billion likes per day. (Omnicore)
- More than 40 Billionphotos have been uploaded to Instagram so far. (Omnicore)
- Posts with at least one hashtag average 6% more engagement. (Omnicore)
- When Instagram introduced videos, 5 million videos were uploaded in the first 24 hours. (Omnicore)
- Instagram videos get 2 times the engagementof photos than any other social media platform. (Omnicore)
Bottom line—anyone serious about their online marketing efforts needs to be using the power of Instagram.
Benefits of Influencer Marketing
It’s clear that Influencer Marketing is a critical part of any online marketing campaign. There are a number of benefits to this form of marketing that can’t be found anywhere else.
We have discussed many of these benefits above, but to recap, these benefits include:
People buy from people they trust—This truly is the modern word-of-mouth. Influencer Marketing is based on relationships. It is fueled by genuine recommendations from people who have interacted with the brand and had a good experience with it.
Fewer limitations—When using advertising, there are a lot of rules to follow. But with Influencer Marketing, it’s just a person posting on their account. They aren’t bound by the advertising rules of the platform, which gives them more freedom to express themselves in a way that can’t be done in an ad.
Improves content marketing—This truly is the ultimate in content marketing. The influencer is using their own content and credibility to increase reach and sales. This offers a lot more value to their followers than the brand can provide.
Think about it. When an ad is used, there is limited space and rules. But when a person posts about a brand, they can let loose. They can tell their story. They can use humor. They can completely capture their audience in the way that works the best—because they know their audience in a way no one else does.
Amplifies brand reach on social media—Let’s face it. A brand offering is far more likely to go viral if a trusted person endorses it than if an ad shows up on someone’s feed. An influencer sharing content that they believe in is so much more powerful.
Creates brand authenticity—Having an organic post is much more authentic than an ad. This is especially true if the influencer genuinely uses the brand. They are speaking from the heart ad from experience. That can’t be faked.
Builds credibility—If the influencer is credible, the brand will gain credibility by association with that influencer. It’s that simple. People want what other people have.
Avoids ad-blocking—With so many people using ad-blocking software, the impact on online marketing is huge. But Influencer Marketing reaches everyone. There is no blocking it because it isn’t an ad! It’s just a post by someone people trust.
There is NOTHING that sells a brand or product better than a relationship built on trust.
And that is why Influencer Marketing is a MUST for anyone who is marketing their business online. Influencer Marketing is nothing more than using the celebrity status or popularity of an individual to promote a brand.
After all, if they like it, their followers are more likely to trust the brand.
And Instagram is THE #1 social media platform for Influencer Marketing. There is no better way to get the word out about a brand. Instagram’s visual nature, its novelty, its mobility, and its ease of use all contribute to a winning influencer platform.
Plus, Instagram is the fastest growing social media platform for brand awareness!
Influencer Marketing’s benefits are many and powerful. To recap, they include:
- People buy from people they trust
- Fewer limitations
- Better content marketing
- Improves brand reach
- Creates brand authenticity
- Builds credibility for the brand
- Avoids the use of ad-blocking

Every online business needs to drive traffic.
Let me say that again.
Every online business needs to drive traffic.
This is the same as a brick and mortar business bringing people through the door. Without customers, the result is obvious… A business will fail.
Driving traffic to an online business requires a different approach than that of offline businesses. Online business owners still need to get in front of the consumer. But they are doing so in a virtual environment.
Traditionally, driving traffic to a brick and mortar business required a lot of money. Then a lot of time setting up advertising campaigns and waiting for them to work.
To drive traffic to an online business, time and money are also required.
With sufficient time and money, there are two types of traffic that any online business owner can generate. These include:
- Free Traffic
- Investment Traffic
Each of these is effective at driving traffic and each is critical to the success of any marketing campaign.
Let’s take a look at what generating each type of traffic entails…
Free traffic is exactly that—FREE.
Free traffic comes with a number of benefits. It makes it possible to connect with consumers, provide them with valuable content, and build credibility.
On the flip side, even though money is not required, time is. A LOT of time and effort goes into generating free traffic.
Free traffic is a must for those who have the time. And those who don’t have the time need to apply at least some of the strategies we’re about to discuss. It will pay off over the long-term.
Free traffic can be generated a number of ways. Each of these sources of free traffic is valuable. They provide the potential for a deep connection with the target audience.
A blog can take advantage of search engine optimization, or SEO (which I’ll get into more below). SEO is a method of using specific keywords to make sure a website or blog ranks high in the top search engines, such as Google or Bing.
Having a blog is an easy way to create valuable content. When posting consistent (high quality) blog content using SEO keywords, traffic to the blog will build over time. This is also a surefire way to build authority, credibility, and trust.
The people who read a blog regularly will view the blogger as an expert.
General Guidelines for Blog Posts:
- Focus on a specific topic
- Choose a title that entices people to read
- Start with a short, eye-catching sentence or question
- Avoid long paragraphs
- Make it visually appealing – Shorter paragraphs, bullet points, pictures, infographics…etc.
- Include a specific system of formula (2 types, 7 steps…etc.)
- Provide a call-to-action (CTA)
Be sure to include an opt-in box somewhere on the website. This way, visitors will start opting in to an email list. As always, offer a free gift in exchange for people’s email addresses to get more people to opt-in (see step 4 in this post for more about free gifts).
And the more traffic that goes to the blog, the higher the number of social media shares. And that will improve the blog’s overall ranking on search engines.
But blogs can be valuable in another way.
Commenting on the blog posts of others can also make an impression. The key is to find the authority blogs. These are the blogs run by the leaders in the industry. They already have a great following and high volumes of traffic.
And it is so simple to take advantage of that following!
Just follow these steps:
- Type popular industry keywords into Google and find the most prominent blogs.
- Follow these blogs closely. Subscribe to the RSS feed and newsletter. Keep on top of when posts are made and be one of the first to post a comment. Make sure this comment provides real value.
- Include a link to the desired opt-in page. This can be included as a sort of signature to the comment.
NOTE: Be careful about linking to your website. Some blog comment sections frown on this.
At the very least, commenting on blog posts gives you an in to write a guest blog post.
Most blogs are hungry for content, so if you approach a blog owner with a post filled with valuable content, oftentimes they will jump on it.
This is a simple way to leverage another blog’s audience to drive traffic to your own site.

I once built a list of 5,000 subscribers and made $10,000 in 60 days through participation in a forum!
This is a great example of the power of relationships and credibility.
I was an affiliate marketer and I was promoting some new software. I learned how to use the software so well, that I began to offer free coaching to people on the forum if they used my affiliate link.
But know this. I had been spending 12 hours a day on that forum. People knew me. They trusted me. We had a relationship. That is critical and it takes a lot of TIME.
When using a forum, follow these rules:
- Post a minimum of 10 replies per day.
- Start one new thread per day.
- Never spam or sell. Just provide value.
- Place a promotion message in your signature and include a link. Change the message every 10 days, but keep the link the same.
Over time, people will get to know you and they will be open to clicking on your link.

Another way to deliver valuable content to a target audience is via YouTube videos. Close to 5 billion videos are viewed every single day! People like videos!
So, rather than writing about something, record it. SHOW people. Give them a demonstration. And include your link in the video so that viewers are able to opt in.
Make videos consistently and more people will be exposed to the content. Commenting on related popular videos is another way to increase exposure as well.

Participating on social media is much like participating on forums. The key here is to connect with followers and build relationships.
Engage and interact with followers. Like and share their posts. Provide valuable content and post consistently. Like with other forms of free traffic, consistency is the key to success.
Follow others too. Like and share their content. Leave useful comments on popular posts. Remember, there is give and take when it comes to interacting with people on social media.
Place an opt-in link on the profile page. As followers grow and engagement happens, people will opt in.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
As I mentioned before with blogging, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the strategy behind ranking high in search engines like Google or Bing.
Think about it this way. How much free traffic would someone get if they were the first result in Google when someone searched “starting an online business”? A LOT! Right?
And this applies to any keywords that people are actively searching for.
I would go as far to say that SEO is THE BEST option for free traffic.
- SEO creates lasting traffic – People will search and visit web pages for years to come.
- SEO is a compounding affect – The more SEO strategy implemented, the more traffic that comes. And it multiplies exponentially.
- SEO works for all search engines – It doesn’t entirely rely on one search engine or one platform. So this makes it more stabile than building an audience on Facebook or Twitter.
- SEO gives you traffic on auto-pilot – Once a web page is optimized, the traffic comes to you, with no additional work on your part.
- SEO is simple – Anyone can leverage SEO if they know some simple strategies.

Investment traffic is also known as paid traffic. And it is critical to driving traffic.
When paying for traffic, it is truly an investment and the return on that investment can be incredibly high.
The greatest benefit of investment traffic is the speed at which results start rolling in. However, it does cost money. Depending on the form of investment traffic, that cost can vary. But it is easy and quick to get started and produces fast results.
Now, before we go into more details about investment traffic, let’s address the issue of which is the better option.
Yes, a lot more people can be reached a lot more quickly through investment traffic. But free traffic is where relationships, trust, and credibility are built.
Free traffic is how marketers show that there is a real person behind the opt-in page.
Essentially, free traffic compliments investment traffic and vice versa. They work synergistically to produce fantastic results.
Just think about it. Having great content on social media can build credibility when using investment traffic.
Someone might see Facebook ad, click on it, then watch all the videos on the Facebook page and become a fan for life.
And paid traffic can help build an initial following and gain momentum. For instance, traffic can be run to a blog post.
This will provide the benefit of interaction and engagement through the blog. People will comment, share, and become regular followers.
Free traffic and paid traffic work so well together that…
Both options should be used.
Free traffic and investment traffic together make up a complete opt-in campaign. One can be done without the other, but the effect will be diminished.
But know this…
It is vitally important that anyone who is serious about their business use investment traffic.
4 Benefits of Investment Traffic
I’ll admit it. Investment traffic is my favorite method of driving traffic.
Even though free traffic is important in the grand scheme of driving traffic, investment traffic will amplify the results to levels not possible via free traffic. The benefits of investment traffic cannot be overstated.
These benefits are as follows…
- Faster to Get Started
There is absolutely no match for the speed at which results are obtained with investment traffic. The results are instantaneous! As soon as the message is sent, people are responding, interacting, and providing their email addresses.
A lot of traffic will rapidly flow in. There is no substitute for this. Not even if someone has all day every day to work on getting free traffic.
- Faster to Scale
Investment traffic is dynamic.
Consider an ad that is placed through the likes of Google or Facebook. Metrics are provided for these ads. This makes it easy to test different ads to see what works and what doesn’t. If an ad is working, it can automatically be scaled to reach more people.
This might be one of the best benefits of investment traffic—the ability to TARGET ads.
Investment traffic is highly targeted. It is so easy to reach exactly the right people. When placing an investment ad, there are certain criteria that can be used to ensure that ad is seen by the people who need to see it.
This means there is no time wasted with people who aren’t interested. And there is no time wasted hoping the right people will come along.
- Shows Seriousness
It’s true. Spending money on a business shows real commitment to its success.
If someone is willing to invest money, there is that much more of a commitment. Investment traffic can shift your mindset from amateur to pro.
Every single dollar is an investment. And eventually, the business will reach the point where it is guaranteed that every dollar spent will provide a return on investment that will continue to grow.
Best Sources of Investment Traffic
Since investment traffic is so important, it is critical to understand the potential sources of that traffic. Choosing a source of investment traffic to begin with will depend largely on the budget at hand.
Some of these sources cost very little to get started. Some cost a lot of money right out of the gate. However, most will get anyone started for as little as $100. Think about that! Starting to build a list of contacts for as little as $100 rather than spending thousands with traditional forms of marketing.
There is no comparison!
With that in mind, here are the best sources of investment traffic.
Email Media (Aka Solo Ads)
Email media provides anyone with immediate access to an extensive, targeted email list. The key? Someone else owns the list.
There are so many people in every industry who already have extensive email lists. Many of these people will allow you to promote your offers through their list. This allows instant access to potentially thousands of subscribers while leveraging the credibility of the list owner.
Think of this as renting another person’s list.
There are two ways email media works. The first is the marketer’s message and link is inserted into an email the list owner is sending out.
The second is what is called a “solo ad.” The list owner will send an email that is dedicated solely to the marketer’s content. The marketer can write the email and insert their link and that email will be sent out to the entire list.
This can be expensive. But it is worth it! I highly recommend that anyone with the budget for email media to take advantage of it.
How does email media work? It’s actually really simple.
The list owner generally charges by the click. If it costs 80 cents per click and 2,000 clicks are generated, the cost is $1,600. Even if the opt-in page gets a 50% opt-in rate, that is a $1,600 investment for 1,000 emails. It is possible to recoup this and more within 30-60 days.
Google AdWords is a pay-per-click (PPC) method of advertising that has been around since 2000. That’s 17 years Google has been bringing PPC advertising to online business owners.
Google AdWords is powerful. It is scalable and it is easy to control and analyze any advertising campaign. It is so targeted that traffic can be driven to any website with ease.
BUT there are a lot of rules. Only those who figure out these rules and follow them will find success.
Because of the complexity of the Google AdWords system, there is a learning curve. Once this learning curve has been conquered, it is free sailing.
However, because Google AdWords can be very expensive, it is best for marketers to wait until their monthly income has reached $10,000 or more per month.
Influencer Marketing might be the most exciting form of digital marketing right now!
There are people on the internet with massive followings. There are people who are considered experts in various niches. And a lot of people value the opinions of these people. These are what we call influencers.
Influencer Marketing is teaming up with influential people to launch a marketing campaign.
It’s the modern version of WORD OF MOUTH.
Word of mouth has always been the best form of advertising. Because people buy from people they trust.
Influencer marketing allows marketers to scale word of mouth. It leverages the credibility that influencer have to promote an offer.
Just look at the amazing statistics of influencer marketing:
- 92% of people trust recommendations from individuals (even if they don’t know them) over brands. (Nielson)
- 93% of pros consider influencer marketing as an effective strategy to build brand awareness. (LaunchMetrics)
- 74% of consumers use social media to make purchase decisions. (Sprout Social)
- 81% of marketers who have used influencer marketing judged it to be effective. (emarketer.com)
- 47% of online customers use ad block technology. The way to reach them is to provide content they want from people they trust. (digitalnewsreport.org)
- 51% of marketers believe they get better customers from influencer marketing. That’s because the relationship began with trust in the influencer. (Tomoson)
- 37% better retention is reported for customer acquired through word-of-mouth advertising. (Brandon Murphy)
Face it, people don’t like being sold to. No one really likes ads. In fact, the best ads don’t even look like ads! That’s why influencer marketing is so effective. It’s much more natural than traditional advertising.
Here are some more advantages of influencer marketing:
- People buy from people they trust – Influencer marketing is modern word of mouth, based on relationships and genuine recommendations.
- Improves content marketing – It’s the ultimate content marketing. Using content and credibility to increase reach and sales.
- Amplifies brand reach on social media
- Creates brand authenticity – Influencer marketing is much more authentic than ads, especially if the influencer genuinely uses the brand.
- Builds credibility – Creates credibility by association
- Avoids ad-blocking – Many people use ad-blocking software. Influencer marketing reaches everyone.
For B2B traffic, LinkedIn is ideal. It rolls social media, blogs, forums and groups, and advertising into one complete networking package for professionals. This brings many forms of free and investment advertising together in one place.
LinkedIn’s paid advertising is highly targeted and effective. It is based on the attributes users include in their own profiles. This makes the targeting incredibly accurate. Targeting attributes include:
- Groups they belong to
Plus, the size of the target audience can be seen BEFORE an ad is even created.
However, LinkedIn advertising can get very expensive. The minimum cost-per-click is $2 and the minimum per day per campaign is $10. And this form of advertising is not suitable for every niche. Only those that fall into B2B categories will benefit.
I discussed YouTube as a source of free traffic before. But it’s also a great form of investment traffic as well.
I am a big fan of video. Video is a great way to promote visual niches and give demonstrations. And YouTube is huge! Nearly 5 billion videos are watched every day.
YouTube advertising allows incredible targeting based on:
- Topic of interest
- Placement of pages in relation to ad
The cost for YouTube advertising is also minimal. Generally, this runs between 10 cents and 30 cents per view. But if the ad is viewed for 5 seconds or less, there is no charge. This gives users time to click the Skip Ad button.
Having said this, that’s a mere five seconds. It is easy to end up paying a lot for users who don’t watch the entire video, but watch more than 5 seconds. This can get pricy.
Plus, even though there is good targeting, it is somewhat limited. There is no way to choose the specific videos an ad will play before.
Also there is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to producing video ads. Creating video ads is generally more difficult than any other kind of ad. They require time, patience and multiple areas of expertise.
Don’t let this scare you away though. You don’t have to have a professionally filmed video to create a great ad. With the right strategy, a simple smartphone video can be highly effective.
Facebook advertising is my FAVORITE way to generate investment traffic. This is especially true for anyone just starting out.
It is the ideal place for every new internet marketer to begin. And it should always remain the core of any marketing campaign. Why? There are nearly 2 billion Facebook users!
Think about this. That is an extensive number of people through which any marketer can access highly targeted traffic. In fact, Facebook provides the ability to target by likes, interests, location, demographics, and behaviors.
Facebook advertising works for any type of business, online or offline. Best of all, it is inexpensive. A successful campaign can be run for as little as 10 cents per click (depending on the niche). This makes $100 a reasonable budget to start with.
In addition to affordability, it is easy to create Facebook ads. Just a few clicks of the mouse button and some advertising text and the ad is visible to the right people.
There is no doubt that in the past marketers would have killed for the information Facebook has. Leverage this information! Success depends on it.

Traffic is a Necessity
Traffic is a must for any online business to succeed. Free traffic takes significant time to build, but offers amazing benefits. These benefits include the development of relationships, the development of trust, and the building of credibility and authority.
Investment traffic complements free traffic by building that traffic to incredibly high volumes quickly. There is simply no match for the speed at which investment traffic can be generated.
The three most important things to remember about building traffic are these:
- BOTH types of traffic should be used to ensure a well-rounded campaign.
- Investment traffic is vitally important for anyone serious about business.
- Facebook is the absolute BEST type of investment traffic.
EVERY business needs traffic to survive.
Online businesses have two ways to do this… Paid traffic AND free traffic. And both are necessary for lasting success.
Paid traffic is the traffic brought through things like advertising and purchasing email leads. This type of traffic takes very little time to generate, but it costs money.
On the other hand, free traffic costs—well—NOTHING.
It does take a lot more time and effort to make it happen. But that time and effort is well worth it.
With free traffic, awesome credibility is built over time. Followers get to know the brand and the person behind that brand. This makes the traffic warm and more open to entering the sales funnel.
Obviously, the more FREE traffic that can be generated, the better. And getting free traffic is not only possible—it’s really simple to do!
Plus, the best part is there are so many forms of free traffic to take advantage of. Social media is one great source of free traffic. And two of the very best social media platforms are Facebook and Twitter.
Why Social Media?
Social media—it’s where everyone is!
Anyone who operates any kind of business—online or offline—CANNOT ignore social media. Why? Take a look:
- There are 46 billion social media users—that’s 1/3 of the Earth’s population! (Statista)
- 92% of companies use social media for hiring new employees. (The Muse)
- 34% of social media users use social media to find content. (Global Web Index)
- 27% of social media users use social media to research and find products.
- People are on social media for an average of 135 minutes per day. (Statista)
People LOVE social media. And it makes sense to meet them where they are already spending their time.
This is especially true of Facebook—which is the #1 social media platform.
This is the 600-pound gorilla in the room. People spend SO much time on Facebook!
Facebook truly IS the king of social media.
Facebook has more than 2 billion monthly users. That is a HUGE audience base that cannot be ignored! Zephoria.com reports several reasons why:
- 510,000 comments and 293,000 status updates are posted on Facebook every minute.
- Every day, 75 billion pieces of content are shared.
- 50% of people ages 18-24 go on Facebook as soon as they wake up in the morning.
- One out of every five page-views in the U.S. is on Facebook.
- Every second, five new Facebook profiles are created.
- 42% of marketers says Facebook is important to their business.
Facebook is a place where people connect with who they know. It’s where they catch up and share with their friends and family. And people can post and enjoy all kinds of media on Facebook. This includes:
People can Like and Follow people and pages, create events, comment, and share. Because of this, content can easily go viral.
And the more content goes viral, the more people will find and interact with a brand.
So many people dismiss Twitter as useless for anything business-related.
After all, there are only 140 characters available at a time.
But here’s a little secret: Twitter’s 140 character limit is actually advantageous in some ways:
- It takes very little time to write a tweet.
- It takes very little time for someone to read a tweet—think busy people who don’t have time to read long posts.
- 140 characters is all that is needed to post a link, image, or short video.
- It makes it easier for people to click links, because the meat of the content will be on another website.
Twitter is a phenomenal way to make an initial connection with people and generate cold traffic. It makes the perfect first step in a funnel.
And tweets have massive potential to reach millions of people and go viral! Just take a look at these Twitter stats offered by Expanded Ramblings:
- Over 1 billion registered users
- Over 100 million daily active users
- Over 120 million unique visitors per month
- The average number of followers per Twitter user is 208
- Over 550 million accounts have sent at least one tweet
- 9,100 tweets are sent every second
- 34% of active users log on more than once per day
- 83% of world leaders use Twitter
- The US alone has over 67 million Twitter users
There is no way anyone serious about generating free traffic can ignore Twitter OR Facebook. The key is to know how to use these platforms effectively.
How to Drive Massive Amounts of Free Traffic From Facebook And Twitter
There is strategy involved in driving traffic from Facebook and Twitter. Just getting on and making random posts won’t do the job.
After all, millions of other people are doing the same thing.
The key is to leverage Facebook and Twitter to build a following and drive massive amounts of traffic. And there are four factors that are crucial to driving free traffic from social media.
Let’s take a look…
1. Unique Voice
Any brand or business owner MUST have a unique voice to stand out.
The same old, same old won’t draw people’s attention. There are going to be plenty of other people posting in the same niche. The key is to create a unique brand voice, one that speaks to who the person behind the brand truly is.
Seriously, people love authenticity. They love to see someone tackle problems from a unique perspective. This obviously applies to Facebook. But uniqueness is just as important on Twitter.
Twitter makes it possible to use humor, wittiness, quotes, short pieces of wisdom, and concise social commentary—all within that 140-character limit. Using this in a unique way will create a BIG organic buzz.
Post every day on Facebook. One daily post will reach followers and keep them engaged.
Post multiple times a day on Twitter. Twitter is a much faster-moving platform. Tweets are fed into the system so quickly that it’s easy for people to miss them. By posting at least three or four times a day, it is possible to reach and connect with more people.
Consistency is how a brand is built. Consistency helps build relationships and reputation.
And for the best results, consistency needs to be paired with great content.
3. Create Awesome Content
We’ve talked about the importance of consistency in terms of timing—but the type and quality of the content also needs to be consistent.
Know what works best and use that to draw people in.
Videos and images work best on Facebook. Tubular Insights reports that 500 million people watch Facebook videos every single day! This translates into 100 million hours of video watched each day.
When it comes to Twitter, plain text works better than on any other social media platform. People expect short bursts of text in a tweet. Having said that, images and videos also work well on Twitter.
It is critical to use keywords on both Facebook and Twitter.
Include keywords in descriptions, status updates, and tweets. Keywords in social media work just as they do with Google—they make the content more searchable.
On Twitter, keywords can also come in the form of hashtags. Using hashtags will ensure a tweet shows up for anyone searching that hashtag.
Just remember not to overuse keywords or hashtags. You can have too much of a good thing. After all, search engines and followers like there to be substance to what is posted.
And the content created should also be sharable.
This means creating content that gets people excited. They want to comment on it. They want others to see it. And there are so many ways to create shareable content, such as:
- Asking a question
- Asking people to share their experience
- Creating content people will definitely want to share
Comments, shares, and any other type of post interaction helps boost the post in the search algorithms.
But remember—NEVER try to sell on social media.
Have a funnel—but use social media to engage people and bring them into that funnel gently. In fact, social media is the first step in that funnel. It’s the entry point. Here’s an example:
When there is a tweet or Facebook post, it can link to a blog post. Then it goes like this:
Blog post > Email newsletter > Email sequence > Selling an offer.
4. Get Engaged
Generating traffic through social media doesn’t only meaning engaging followers.
It’s also about BEING engaged.
Engagement is key for brand growth and building relationships. And being engaged is so easy! Here are some ways to do it:
- Follow people within the niche
- Respond to every question or comment on all profiles (especially when first starting out)
- Be generous with tagging people—Tag similar pages in Facebook posts and tweet at similar profiles in your niche. This gets the brand and the person behind it on people’s radars. And it gets them liking the brand and wanting to reciprocate.
- Share relevant content—Share relevant Facebook posts. Retweet relevant tweets. This enhances your visibility and credibility.
- Comment—Comment on Facebook posts in your niche. Comment in Facebook groups. On Twitter, respond to people’s tweets in your niche.
By engaging in these ways, people will see that it is about more than just your posts and the brand. It’s about getting out there and truly becoming part of the community.
At this point, we have talked about creating great content. And now it’s time to see the types of resources there are to help make that happen.
Resources For Creating Great Content
The written word is absolutely one of the most powerful things on this planet.
But there are two additional resources that can take that social media presence to the next level. These are:
These visual elements work well because people tend to be very visually oriented. This means images and video truly appeal to followers.
And because of the visual appeal, images and videos have massive viral potential.
Images work well on any social media platform. Just think about it. Whenever there is an image, the eyes are automatically drawn to it. We just can’t help looking!
Plus, images are extremely shareable, whether on Facebook or Twitter.
It’s easy to find free images to use. In fact, there are resources for stock photos that are royalty-free and are part of creative commons. This means, use of these images doesn’t require permission or the need to cite the source of the photo.
Here are some places to get these free stock photos:
As for stock photos that are paid for, Shutterstock is the best source (but it’s expensive).
However, the best images to use are ones you’ve photographed or created yourself. Creating images is simple with the right software. Canva offers an easy DIY option, using your own photos or their stock photos.
It is also possible to have someone else create images. There are plenty of freelancers out there who are highly talented and ready to help for a reasonable fee. Find the best on Upwork, Fiverr, and Guru.
People LOVE watching videos on social media!
Videos grab the attention in a way not even images can. And like images, videos are sharable and have viral potential on both Facebook and Twitter.
And making a video is so easy. Face-to-camera videos work great for Facebook and Twitter. Just get in front of the camera and talk. You can:
- Introduce yourself
- Introduce an employee
- Do a product review
- Do a demonstration
- Conduct an interview
- Do anything else related to the niche
All that is required for a face-to-camera video is a good webcam, which is inexpensive these days. Or simply get a selfie stick and use a smartphone.
And for those who don’t like being in front of the camera, there are screen capture videos. Just use some great screen-capture software, such as Screencast-O-Matic or Camtasia and record a voiceover.
For even more resources for making videos, see our blog post on driving traffic from YouTube.
And remember, once the images or videos are made, they can be shared across ALL social networks! Make it once and share it as many times as possible.
Social media is a huge piece of the puzzle when it comes to driving free traffic.
And Facebook and Twitter are the best social media platforms to use!
Reach millions—even billions—of users through Facebook and Twitter. Simply apply these four factors to Facebook and Twitter posts to build followers and bring them into the first stage of the sales funnel.
- Unique Voice
- Create Awesome Content
- Get Engaged
It is critical to engage with the niche community and to engage followers.
Using images and videos makes it possible to raise this level of engagement.

Content IS king.
Try running any successful online business online without content. It’s just not going to work.
And one of the most effective ways to deliver that content is through blogging. Here are some stats that prove it:
- 77% of people who use the internet read blogs (Impact).
- 346 million people around the globe read blogs (the future buzz).
- American internet users spend three times more time reading blogs than they spend reading emails (HubSpot).
- 79% of people who shop online spend half their time researching products online (HubSpot).
- As of 2016, 36% of Fortune 500 companies had a public blog (Statista).
- 89% of companies believe blogging will grow more important over the next five years (Impact).
- Marketers who focus on blogging as a priority are 13 times more likely to see a positive ROI (HubSpot).
- Leads from SEO have a close rate of 14.3%, compared to a close rate of 1.7% for email or print advertising (Search Engine Journal).
Clearly, blogging is not only important —it’s a game changer.
And blogs are THE BEST way to rank organically in search engines. They are the best SEO (Search Engine Optimization) strategy, hands down. Google, Bing and every other search engine LOVES blogs.
And the best part about all this is that blogging is so easy.
It isn’t necessary to be incredibly tech savvy. It isn’t necessary to be an amazing writer. All that’s needed is the ability to provide people with quality content they value. The rest will fall into place.
Having said that, let’s start at the beginning…
What Is a Blog?
In the late 1990s, people started writing web logs, which soon became known as blogs.
These days, regular people, celebrities, companies, and politicians all use blogging as a way to communicate and talk about their experiences. A blog is simply…
A website that is constantly updated with new articles.
Each article is a blog post. People can write about anything. They can write about:
- Their travel experiences
- Products they like
- Business reviews
- Their hobby
- Their job
- The books they have read
- Literally ANYTHING else!
Blogs can be personal or professional. They can contain opinion or fact (or both).
And guess what? You’re reading a blog right now.
Businesses big and small are beginning to see the advantages to blogging.
But here is another perspective on blogging…
It’s the new form of magazine or newspaper that anyone can run. Blogging offers a unique way for a person to get information out to their target audience. And anyone can subscribe to a blog for FREE.
Plus, blogs seriously drive traffic. And that is a MAJOR benefit.
Why Blogging Drives So Much Traffic
Blogs are content—content that is rich in keywords.
And those keywords help blogs rank high in the search engines.
The keyword usage in blogs means that it’s easy to use search engine optimization to ensure they rank high. All that’s needed is a little bit of effort on a consistent basis and a blog can really take off.
Now, the value of SEO cannot be overstated. Many people think SEO is dead. It’s not. Far from it. SEO has simply evolved—thanks to the many changes Google has made to its search engine algorithms over the years. All you need for effective SEO is to:
- Write good posts consistently
- Use effective target keywords
- Get social buzz
SEO = Free traffic over the long term.
And that’s powerful!
It’s like having free traffic that comes with just a little effort and patience and builds over time. And blogging provides some amazing opportunities to build a business.
Opportunities With Blogging
No matter what type of business it may be—blogging can take it to the next level.
Blogging can be used with ANY type of online or offline business. It can be used for ecommerce, coaching/consulting, digital publishing or any other business model.
A blog can be combined with the business website to bring more traffic, provide great information and engage the customer.
Now, there are two major advantages to having a blog associated with a business. The first is that the blog provides the ability to build both the brand and credibility.
By posting articles that are valuable and informative, a brand – and the person behind that brand – can build a reputation for being an expert in that industry. Through connecting with other experts, guest blogging, and providing up-to-date information, credibility grows.
The second major thing a blog does is help a business owner reach more people. Like I mentioned above, people love blogs. A whopping 77% of people who use the internet read blogs.
And when people read a blog, the business that runs the blog can connect with their readers and develop a relationship with them. Readers can use the comments section to engage in conversation, ask questions, and tell about their own experiences.
Building this relationship with readers helps build trust.
Any business that wants to succeed CANNOT pass up the opportunities blogging offers.
And starting a blog can be so quick and easy.
How To Quickly Get a Blog Up And Running
It is possible to have a blog up and running in just minutes.
All you need is to:
- Get a domain name
- Buy hosting
- Sign up with WordPress
- Start putting out blog posts
GoDaddy is the easiest place to get a domain name. Once the domain name is claimed, hosting can also be done with GoDaddy. But I highly recommend using Bluehost or HostGator for hosting.
When the host service is set up, it is easy to install WordPress through them with one simple click of the mouse button. They all have WordPress integrated into their dashboards.
And once WordPress is set up, the only thing left to do is to start blogging.
How to Create Great Content
Setting up the blog is simple, and posting content is too. If you follow a few simple guidelines…
One of the most intimidating aspects of blogging is often figuring out what to write about. But this is actually really easy. Here are some options:
- Create “foundational content” for your niche – For example, if it’s the personal development niche, write a “Meditation 101” This article will lay out the basics. Then write additional blogs that will dive into more detail with each of these basics.
- Find what’s already popular – Visit other blogs, forums, and social media to find out what people are talking about. Find out what questions the niche audience is asking. And write about these topics!
Writing blog posts on your own is easy, even without experience.
To write a blog post, first outline the post to determine exactly what to write about. Then do the following:
- Come up with an attention-grabbing title—This is what draws the reader in.
- Hook the reader with first sentence—Make it something so captivating, outrageous or intriguing they feel they MUST keep reading.
- Break the blog up into small paragraphs—This makes the post more visually appealing and easier to read. It harnesses the power of visual flow.
- Add some high-quality pictures—Blog posts that include images are rewarded with 94% more views!
For people who aren’t comfortable with sitting down and writing a blog post, there are a couple of options.
The first is to simply talk. Make a voice recording of what the blog should say. Then use a transcription service to turn that recording into a written post that can be edited and published. Two of the best transcription services are rev.com and Temi.
The second option for those who don’t want to or have the time to write their own blog is to outsource it. Yes, a professional writer can be hired to write the blog for a reasonable fee. Writers can be found on sites such as Upwork, iWriter, or Constant Content.
Just remember, regardless of how the blog posts are created, there are certain strategies to follow to make them more effective.
And these strategies can mean the difference between success and failure.
Blogging Strategy 101
HOW a blog is written makes a difference.
To be truly effective, certain blogging strategies MUST be followed to the letter. They aren’t numerous or complicated, but they’re critical to success. Here they are:
This is so important. Posts need to be regular and CONSISTENT. Once people start following the blog, they will expect regular posts. So, decide how many times a week and what days to post. Then stick with that schedule.
Consistency is key!
Regular posts also help websites rank higher in search engine results.
And take the time to plan blog posts at least two weeks to a month in advance. A blogger who does this will never be left wondering what to write about next.
Keywords and Links
Decide what the post will be about and choose the most effective keywords for that post.
Then use those keywords throughout the post! It is these keywords that people will be looking for in the search engines. It’s these keywords that the blog post will rank for.
And sprinkle relevant links throughout the post, as well. Links are the currency of the internet.
Link to other posts made on that blog, posts by other people in the niche or industry, and products and other forms of content that are appropriate. The more a blog links to others, the more likely they will be to link back to that blog and the more Google will think the content is relevant.
This is all about how appealing the post is to the eyes.
People do NOT want to read something that looks intimidating. So, break up the flow of the post. Use paragraphs of varying length, but keep them no longer than four or five lines. And vary the length of sentences.
It is also important to make use of bold, italics, underline, and color. These will make the text stand out in a way that’s highly appealing to the eye. It will also get important points across.
Begin at the beginning.
Teach people the basics and build on that. This will get people in the door from the beginning and keep them around. They will see the value build and learn more each time they visit. These will be long-term blog followers (and most likely repeat customers).
Get that blog out there! Share every post on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and any other social media platform that’s relevant.
When posts are shared, they will reach more and more people and have a better chance of going viral. It will definitely increase readership. And it’s easy to do. Just link the blog to the relevant social media accounts and new posts will automatically show up on the social media feeds.
There must be calls-to-action (CTA’s) in every single post.
The goal isn’t just to provide readers with valuable content, but to get them to take action. Include a CTA that will let readers sign up for an email list or make a purchase or take some other form of action that will move the reader into the sales funnel.
Have a Funnel
This is one that so many people miss…
And leave money on the table as a result.
There MUST be a sales funnel.
Every blogger should build an email list. Because, as I’ve said multiple times, email marketing is crucial to success.
Once a blog reader subscribes to the email list, they become a potential customer. Then it’s possible to promote products or services to them over and over again.
Following these strategies will create awesome success for any blog. Just remember that it’s all about connection.
Establish connection with the reader and everything else will fall into place.
Blogging is one of the most effective ways to drive A LOT of free traffic.
Plus, people simply LOVE reading blogs. And blogging is easy and its accessible to everyone. Anyone can start a blog about anything at all!
And businesses benefit from blogs because blogs drive so much traffic.
A blog is simply a website that is devoted to posting articles that provide valuable information. Blogs can be about anything under the sun. Any niche can have a blog. Any business can have a blog.
A blog can help a business build its brand and its credibility. A blog can also help a business extend its reach to more people.
A blog can be created quickly, simply by:
- Purchasing a domain name
- Signing up with a web host
- Connecting to WordPress
Once these three simple steps have been done, blogging can begin!
But it is so important to master the blogging strategies outlined above. Again, these strategies are:
- Post Regularly
- Keywords and Links
- Visual Flow
- Foundational Content
- Have a Funnel

Sure, there are plenty of ways to generate paid traffic online…
But there are also many ways to generate FREE traffic.
Now, I’m the first to admit that there is a tradeoff between free and paid traffic. It’s basically a trade of time for money.
With paid traffic, a lot less time is required. Plus, paying money will generate traffic more quickly.
But most of the time, this traffic won’t be as high in quality as free traffic.
What do I mean by that? Free traffic is generated by getting out there and engaging with people. This warms people up to the brand in a natural way. It’s more than mere advertising.
And there are many different ways to generate free traffic. Here are some:
- Search engine optimization (SEO)
- Updating site content regularly
- Social bookmarking sites
- Social media
- Link to other sites and hope they do the same
- Take advantage of viral content
- Put the site URL in all signatures
But there is another way to generate free traffic that is incredibly effective. We’ll get to that in a moment.
But first, it’s important to learn what to avoid with free traffic.
Avoid the Traps
Not all forms of free traffic are equal!
Some forms of free traffic take up way too much time and they don’t produce good results. For example, posting on social media multiple times every day is very time-consuming. And it takes a LONG time to drive traffic that way.
Does this mean that these methods shouldn’t be used at all? No. But you do have to pick your battles.
The key is to find the free methods of generating traffic that produce massive results without working to exhaustion. And prime among these is YouTube.
YouTube makes it possible to generate A LOT of traffic and it’s absolutely free.
The Power of YouTube
I can’t even begin to tell you how powerful YouTube is.
YouTube is the second-largest search engine in the world!
I bet many people don’t see YouTube as a search engine, but that’s exactly what it is! And here are some amazing statistics to prove it:
- YouTube has an incredible 3 billion users.
- There are over 30 million visitors on YouTube every day.
- A whopping 300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every single minute.
- Close to 5 billion videos are watched every day on YouTube.
- 25 billion hours of video are watched on YouTube every month.
- On average, 80% of 18- to 49-year-olds watch YouTube.
YouTube is a powerful platform. It reaches a LOT of people. Why? Because a lot of people are actively looking for answers.
And video is a great way to connect with those people and give them the answers they seek.
It’s possible to explain things in great detail using video. And it is an amazing platform for visual niches because it is easy to do demonstrations that show how things work.
But what IS YouTube exactly?
YouTube is a combination of all the things we love about the internet. It’s the place where the very best of the online experiences merge and become one. YouTube is all of the following:
- Video hosting
- Social media
- A knowledge-sharing goldmine
And it is a place for businesses to reach their customers. To build relationships in a way that cannot be done elsewhere.
Plus, using YouTube is so easy! There is absolutely no comparison.
Why It’s Easy to Get Ranked on YouTube
YouTube is for everyone!
ANYONE can upload a video and it’s absolutely free to do so.
Once a video is up, it’s much like a post on any social media platform.
If enough users pick up on it and comment, like, and share it—well—it can easily go viral. And people LOVE videos—especially videos they can relate to. The more they can relate to the videos, the more they will keep coming back.
Listen. This is so easy to do. Contrary to popular belief, creating videos isn’t hard at all.
YouTube and the advances in smartphone and camera technology has completely leveled the playing field. It’s so easy to shoot a high-quality video, edit it using easy-to-use video editing software, and put it up on YouTube.
The average person simply did not have the finances or technology to make this happen even 15 years ago.
And with YouTube, SEO is still possible. Using keywords in titles and descriptions, it is easy to optimize a video to rank high in the search engines.
And the key to success with YouTube is to understand how it all works, starting with the…
Different Types of YouTube Videos
A person does NOT have to be a master filmmaker to create a powerful YouTube video.
In fact, it isn’t even necessary to be comfortable in front of the camera!
This is because there are so many different types of YouTube videos that can be made. It is easy to find the one that works best in terms of personality, level of experience, and the end goal. With that in mind, here are the different types of YouTube videos that can be made:
This is exactly as it sounds. In this video, it is simply talking to the camera.
But so much can be done with this, such as:
- Talking about the brand and the person behind the brand
- Introducing a new product
- Product demonstrations
- Product reviews
- Interviewing customers and industry experts
This list really includes pretty much anything that can be done right in front of the camera. These types of videos can be super powerful. Yet they aren’t complicated to make.
I know there are plenty of people out there who are NOT comfortable with being onscreen. Fortunately, it is easy to create powerful and informative videos without ever showing your face.
Just make a video using PowerPoint slides and screen-capture software.
Using PowerPoint makes it possible to give a presentation or teach with the use of slides. And this works just the same way as standing in front of a room full of people—except no one ever sees the speaker.
And screen-capture software makes it possible to capture screenshots or to film the screen while doing how-to videos, tutorials, or video game walkthroughs.
There was a time when only the big animation companies could make high-quality animated videos. But not anymore. For a very reasonable cost, anyone can purchase and use software such as Adobe Animate, Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D, Toon Boom Harmony, or Autodesk Maya.
Using this software, it is possible to create unique characters and bring them to life on the screen. Then simply write a script and record the voiceover and an animated video will be ready to capture the attention of the YouTube world.
It is even possible to create professional-quality movies and documentaries. I don’t recommend this starting out because they take a lot more time and money.
But the fact is, the average person could NEVER have done this even 15 years ago.
And now they can. A good camera can be purchased for a reasonable price. Film-editing software is also available without going bankrupt. Get together the people needed and establish the setting and a highly professional video is absolutely within reach.
But to do all this, the right tools are essential…
The Tools Needed For YouTube Success
This is going to be a very short list.
Surprising as it might seem, for most types of videos, nothing fancier than a smartphone camera and a selfie-stick are needed to make a good face-to-camera video.
And if the video is screen-capture, then PowerPoint and a good microphone will do the job. Along with screen-capture software, such as Camtasia or Screencast-O-Matic.
That is literally ALL that is needed.
Unless the desire is to make a super high-quality professional movie or documentary, this doesn’t need to be fancy. And it doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated.
As long as the video is clear and the audience can connect with the person behind it—that’s all that matters!
How to Quickly Shoot and Upload Videos
Making a video can seem overwhelming—but it really isn’t.
Making a video involves a simple step-by-step process that is remarkably easy to follow.
The first step is to outline the video. Choose a topic that people are actively seeking information about. Then write down the main points to touch on in the video.
Once these are outlined, go into each one in more detail, writing down precisely what to say. When this is finished, the script for the video is done!
Next, it is important to pick a good location to shoot the video. If the shoot will be inside, choose a quiet room that has good lighting. If the video shoot will be outside, then choose a location that offers a good backdrop and good lighting.
With the script, camera, and required software, simply record the video! You can do as many takes as you want. And once it is finished, the video can literally be uploaded to YouTube directly from a smartphone in seconds.
That is all there is to it!
How Frequently to Upload Videos?
The key with YouTube videos—like that of social media and blog posts—is consistency.
If people are following, they want to know they can rely on new videos to come out on regular basis. They want access to new content consistently. And they WILL go elsewhere if it can’t be delivered effectively and reliably.
They key is to choose a schedule that can be realistically managed over the long-term.
Post new videos at least once a week. And post at the same time every week. This is far better than putting out 10 videos all at once and then disappearing. People might watch the videos and love them, but they will want more.
And along with the consistency of a posting schedule, the videos need to be made in the right way.
There needs to be a strategy that, when followed, will ensure the video is highly effective—whether promoting a funnel offer or getting people to take some other form of action.
YouTube Tips And Tricks
Just like with any other form of communication with the consumer, a YouTube video MUST start with a good title.
This title is the first thing people will see—it’s their first impression of the video.
And the sole function of the title is to get people to click and watch the video!
That means the title needs to catch the attention of anyone who sees it. The best way to do this is to ensure the title addresses a problem—and that it stands out as controversial or highly unique in some way.
The title should also contain specific keywords, so it will rank high in YouTube searches and in Google.
The video also needs a good description. This description will include the following:
- The relevant keywords
- A link to the website or page people are to visit
- A solid description of the video content
- A call-to-action
The call-to-action should also appear at end of the video. The ultimate goal of the video is to get people to take action—based on what is being promoted or what the next step in the funnel is.
With an ecommerce business, the call to action might be to visit the product page. With an email marketing business, the call to action might be to get the free report and join your list. With a coaching business, the call to action might be to get on a free strategy session. The possibilities are endless here.
But how is it possible to really know what to make a video about?
How To Find The Best Topics
The niche has been chosen. Products and offers are in the funnel.
But like a blog or other website content, videos must provide value to the audience.
And this means choosing topics that are of interest to people. What are people interested in? There are plenty of ways to find out, such as:
- Find other videos in niche—See what is currently being done on YouTube. Find out what is going viral. Then take it and put a unique spin on it.
- Find popular topics on forums, Buzzsumo, and Reddit—People are always talking about what’s of most interest to them. They LOVE to talk about themselves. Comb through forums and find topics that people have posted and that have a lot of discussion/responses. These will make great video topics.
- Find popular articles in the niche—Check out blogs and websites to find recent articles on fresh or popular niche topics.
- Check the news—Breaking news in a niche or industry can make great topics for videos.
Basically, look for ideas everywhere. Even offline, it is possible to find great topic ideas. Talk to people. Ask questions. Listen to conversations.
The key is to keep alert and think about everything seen and heard while out and about.
And when making videos, model them after other viral videos.
NEVER outright copy someone else’s work. However, mimicking the flow of viral videos, how they use titles and descriptions, the type of video, video length, and other aspects of the video can help create videos that have the potential of going viral.
There are many ways to generate FREE traffic—but there is one that is incredibly powerful.
The YouTube video.

Some of these forms are in higher demand than others. And that means they are the most sought after and lucrative opportunities out there.
These are the opportunities that are the best to focus on.
Here are the four most profitable digital marketing consulting opportunities to take advantage of today!
Want to show up high in Google searches?
SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is how to do that.
SEO continues to be one of the most effective online marketing methods. This is the process of writing content that will help a business rank high on Google and other search engines—organically.
Businesses ideally want to show up at the top of the list of search results. Barring that, they want to be within the first three to five search results on the page—ideally above the fold. At the very least, they want to rank on the first page.
Someone who can offer solid SEO skills can do for many businesses what they can’t do for themselves. Businesses seriously pay BIG bucks for someone to come in and make their content SEO-friendly.
They will pay to have someone come in, assess their current content, and come up with a plan to improve SEO of all web pages and all blog content.
This is definitely one of the top skills to have. Because it produces long-term results and it builds over time. Once a business is SEO-friendly, they will get incredible amounts of traffic without doing anything else! How awesome is that?
And in this Traffic Bootcamp, it is possible to learn and master SEO. Once these skills are mastered, it is time to offer those skill to businesses and get paid top dollar.
Copywriting is hands down THE #1 skill any business person can have.
Yet, a lot of business people have no idea how to write effective copy.
And that’s where a copywriter’s skills can come into use. Businesses will pay HUGE money to have a copywriter write their:
- Written sales letters
- Video sales letters
- Opt-in pages
- Lead magnet reports
If this copy can truly bring them leads and convert well, it is worth its weight in gold.
And don’t worry. Many people think they can’t be a copywriter because they aren’t good at writing. But there is no need to be a master writer or a Nobel Laureate to write copy. There IS a need to know the rules that make that copy effective.
And that can all be learned in the Copywriting Bootcamp.
Facebook Advertising is THE most effective form of advertising on the internet.
Facebook offers so many benefits to advertising, it’s truly unbelievable. Facebook Advertising, offers:
- HUGE amounts of personal data, willingly provided by Facebook users
- Incredibly refined targeting capabilities
- Easy setup process
- Low cost
- A reach of more than 2 billion active users every month
- The ability to retarget
- Call-to-action buttons
- The ability to use images and video in the ads
With Facebook Ads, marketers can target the EXACT people they want to reach. Now that’s powerful.
And it doesn’t have to be expensive either. Anyone can get started with just a few dollars per day. So why not do it?
Yet again, most people don’t have any idea what they’re doing when it comes to writing the copy for a Facebook ad. For one thing, Facebook has a lot of rules and they must be followed to the letter.
But more importantly, it is important to know how to catch people’s eye with incredibly attention-grabbing as text, images, and video.
This isn’t as hard as it seems. It can all be learned in this incredible Facebook Bootcamp.
Once the skills have been mastered, that person will have the leverage to be able to charge well for their Facebook ad writing services.
Email marketing is right up there with copywriting and Facebook Advertising in terms of importance.
In fact, email marketing is the FOUNDATION of online business.
Email marketing makes it possible for you to capture leads so that the same people can be sold to over and over again at no extra cost.
But even more important is that through email marketing, it is possible to build a relationship with subscribers. It is easy to continuously provide them with valuable content and offers. Over time, they will come to trust the marketer and then they can be easily guided along the sales funnel.
Plus, an email list becomes a HUGE asset. This is something that is actually worth money!
But again, most business owners do NOT know how to write effective email copy.
Fortunately, we teach all that in our Digital Bootcamp.
Which means anyone who takes it will be able to go to work for businesses all over the world.
The Big Problem
Okay, so we talked about ways to become a digital marketing consultant. Great. But there is one big problem most people face…
THEY CAN’T GET CLIENTS!
This is THE major hang-up for any kind of coaching or consulting work.
Look at it this way—a person can be the best chef in the world. But if they can’t get people into their restaurant, their skills are useless.
Honestly, getting clients is the most difficult thing. It’s where people need the most help.
But anyone CAN do it—as long as they know how.
And here’s how…
5 Steps To Getting High-Quality Clients
When it comes to going out and finding digital marketing consulting clients, it can seem pretty overwhelming.
After all, the internet is a BIG place!
But those clients ARE out there and it is possible to find them—and get their business. And here are five steps to make that happen.
1. Understanding the Whole Funnel
The very first thing anyone needs to do when it comes to finding clients is…
Understand the entire sales funnel!
Seriously, this is an online business just like any other. There IS a sales funnel—or at least there should be.
To develop this sales funnel, it is important to have a clear idea of different offers that will appear down the line. What other services will be promoted? What is the end goal?
Perhaps the initial offer will be something small like a FREE or low-cost Facebook ad.
Once the customer is happy with that, they will be willing to considering rehiring. They will move along the sales funnel. Perhaps the next offer is writing a sales page or opt-in page. Again, once they are happy with the work, they can be moved along in the funnel.
What’s the ultimate goal? Where should the funnel lead?
To an entire advertising campaign! To the company’s entire marketing contract!
When there is clear understanding of what will be promoted along the sales funnel, there won’t be any overlap. Each and every offer will be clearly defined for the client. They will have a full understanding of how they will benefit every step of the way.
And they will be asked to make a slightly bigger commitment each and every time. Until the ultimate service offering is reached.
Once the sales funnel has been thought out in detail, it’s time to start looking…
2. Online Presence
Everyone is online these days. And everyone is on social media.
To find the right digital marketing clients, it is critical to be online and right in front of them. Fortunately, there are so many online options to choose from.
The first thing that comes to mind with the word business is LinkedIn. LinkedIn IS social media for business. And LinkedIn recommendations can act as solid testimonials for the work someone does. This is online business networking at its finest.
And speaking of social media, it is also possible to use social media profiles to get a business name out there and find clients. I’m talking about platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Nearly 90% of companies in the U.S. are using social media for the purpose of marketing—because it works!
Just remember to keep business accounts separate from personal accounts.
A website is also a necessity because it is critical to have a site to which to direct potential clients. On the website, they can get to know more about the business and its services. And ideally, they can book services or at least they can contact the service provider to inquire and hire.
Of course, part of a solid business website is a blog. These days businesses of all shapes and sizes have blogs. Why? Because people READ blogs. So, make sure your business website has a blog and post to it regularly.
Aside from these ideas, other ways to find digital marketing consulting clients include:
- Writing an eBook—These are easy to write yourself or easy to outsource. Write about anything that will be valuable from the client’s perspective.
- Podcast—This is a great way to build an audience and connect with people.
- Guest blog posts—When someone is a guest blogger is builds their credibility and brings more visitors to their website.
- YouTube—It is SO easy to make great videos through which potential clients can learn about a business.
Ultimately, it is important to put time and effort into reaching out via these various resources. New clients are everywhere. The key is to go where they are and make sure they can see the opportunity right in front of them.
3. Reach Potential Clients
An online presence is a more organic way to attract new clients.
However, it is still important to actively search them out. And this can be done through outbound and inbound marketing.
Essentially, outbound marketing is when a business actually reaches out to people they identify as potential clients. In this case, the initial contact is made by the business.
For example, look for potential clients on LinkedIn and send them a personal message.
On the other hand, inbound marketing is done through advertising and content that are designed to draw people in. Once potential clients see the ad or content, it is up to them to make initial contact.
This is where Facebook Advertising comes into the picture. As we discussed above, Facebook’s advertising platform is unparalleled in its targeting capabilities and reach. This makes it easy to find inbound traffic.
Regardless of whether inbound or outbound marketing is used, the key is to focus on the problems the business can help potential clients solve.
Perhaps the client’s blog posts are lacking in SEO or simply could be written in a more engaging way. Maybe they need help writing ad copy or sales pages.
Either way, once initial contact is made—either through running ads or reaching out to people—maximize that contact with potential clients by sending them to a discovery form….
4. Discovery Form
The discovery form is simple.
It’s just a form that clients fill out prior to working with someone.
Now, it is important to understand that the discovery form has two purposes. The first of these is…
The form allows clients to provide their information and describe their biggest challenges.
And this form can be customized depending on niche. This ensures very targeted, very specific information is collected.
The second function of the discovery form is that it acts as a lead magnet. When people click on an ad or on a link in a message, they are taken to the discovery form. Here they can CHOOSE to provide their information.
This acts as a filter, removing the people who aren’t serious about hiring a service provider.
Once people fill out the form and submit it, they are on the business email list. And the business has the information required to “diagnose” the client’s needs. Think of the discovery form as a doctor—let them tell it their symptoms and then make a diagnosis.
Finally, there is the…
5. Initial Call
If everything goes as planned with the discovery form, the business has the needed information to make the initial call.
It is on this call that the prospect becomes a client.
This can be called a “Strategy” or “Accelerator” session. The purpose of the call is to show them that the business can solve their problem. Make them WANT to become a client of the business. Make them think it is their idea!
This call is extremely important. It should follow a specific formula, which is as follows. The flow of the call is:
- Frame—Start by framing the call. This means tell them exactly what is going to happen during the call. This way there will be no surprises. Plus, if they stay on the call, they are essentially giving their permission to be sold.
- Wants—Go over what they want and the problems/challenges they have. This shows them that the business has a solid understanding of the situation.
- Lead—Take ownership of the call and direct them towards the solution.
- Overview—Provide an overview of the solution, which is the service the business provides. Be detailed in how the service will help them specifically.
- Enroll—Actually enroll them. Sign them up as a client. Get the gig!
This process will end with a new client officially brought on board. And that client will be happy because they made the choice to accept your services. All the business did was get in front of them.
There is no time like the present to take advantage of the internet and put your skills to work.
We truly do live in the golden age of business. And digital marketing is growing so quickly that there are many business owners who need the help of service providers.
As a digital marketing consultant, the best opportunities lie in helping clients with:
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- Facebook Ads
- Email Marketing
And building these skill sets have NEVER been easier.
But there is one big problem skilled digital marketing consultants have—getting clients!
The inability to find quality clients hold many digital marketing consultants back from success. But there are ways to find quality clients and this 5-step system is the best. To recap, the five steps are:
- Understanding the Whole Funnel
- Online Presence
- Reach Potential Clients
- Discovery Form
- Initial Call
By the time a digital marketing consultant gets to Step 5 the client is as good as theirs. And this is a high-quality client for one simple reason…
That client practically jumped through hoops to hire the service provider!
They gave their permission throughout the entire process. They are serious about hiring that business to work for them.
Building digital marketing skills and finding clients isn’t only possible—it’s entirely doable!
